After receiving a notification from the Institute of Transfusion Medicine of the Republic of Slovenia about the reduced amount of blood in their stocks, we organized a blood donation campaign in our Intercultural Dialogue Association, and today we went there together with our intercultural volunteers to donate blood.
Why donate blood?
One blood donation can save up to three lives. People usually donate blood because it makes them feel good to help others, and altruism and volunteering are associated with positive health consequences, including a lower risk of depression and a longer life expectancy.
Donating blood is a way to get involved in the immediate community and help those around you.
People who do this kind of thing and get involved in their community in this way tend to be healthier and live longer.
Creating moments of kindness in times of difficulty does wonder for your mental health and well-being.
