At the end of October, we had our one-day intercultural training for the NGOs and other organizations under the project “Let’s Pop Up The Bubbles” financed by ACF Slovenija.
With more than 15 participants from different ends of Slovenia, we had a very productive and fruitful workshop.
In the 1st part, we had a theoretical background of our intercultural dialogue. Janez Snoj from Župnijski Zavod Svetega Jurija and Furkan Guner from Društvo Medkulturni Dialog presented their associations and their role models who inspire them to have a dialogue with others.
We also had a guest professor for that part of the training from the Faculty of Theology Dr. Igor Bahovec to enlighten us with the historical and scientific backgrounds of dialogue.
In the 2nd part, we shape our ideas about dialogue with clay. There were very interesting and creative figures at the end of the session and every one of us also left feedback about our understanding of that figure when we see it first.
Then in the 3rd part, Janez Snoj and Furkan Guner shared their methods of forming an international/cultural/religious dialogue and the ways how to keep it alive and sustainable with the participants.
Before the event, we prepared the dinner coupons for the participants to be hosts or guests of the intercultural dinner that we will organize before Christmas. We have 8 intercultural dinners ahead of us to enjoy. Can’t wait!
In the last part, Matej Cepin who has more than 25 years of experience in the field of social training shared his best ice-breaking methods for the events that we might have in the future in our organizations.
In the end, everyone shared their thoughts and it was nice to listen to how ice is melting when people spend even one day together. We learned a lot from each other. We hope we will stay in touch and make our dialogues long-term.
During the event, we had two breaks for Turkish cultural foods and snacks with the original Turkish tea and Turkish Coffee and a delicious lunch break prepared by Social Academy.
