Each month focuses on a different object and a different hands-on technique — block printing, decorative assembly, festive ornaments. You do not buy a finished thing; you make an original one and put your own style into it.
No previous experience is needed. The aim is to learn something new, enjoy the making, and leave with a piece nobody else has, in company worth spending an evening in.

September
Textile printing with wooden blocks
Traditional block printing meets contemporary textile design. Choose from blocks carved with flowers, pomegranates, tulips and geometric patterns, and build your own composition in textile paint.
October
Brooches from Turkish motifs
Colour, texture and decorative elements combined into an original brooch. Prepared crochet flowers, beads, metal pieces and evil-eye motifs, arranged entirely to your own taste.
Wear it on a coat, a bag or a scarf.
November
Hand-printed fabric gift bags
The gift-giving season, and packaging as considered as what goes inside it. Print reusable fabric bags with pomegranate, flower, tulip, star and geometric motifs — sized for small presents and jewellery.

December · special
Christmas & New Year ornaments
The year closes with a festive session. Decorative ornaments built around the Turkish evil-eye motif from everyday materials — paint, beads, ribbons, tassels and small bells.

Across the year: the Creative Handicrafts programme may run from September through June. MKD reserves the right to change dates or programme details in exceptional or unforeseen circumstances, and participants will be informed in advance.
Second Monday, fourth Monday
We run two separate workshop series each month. They do not clash, so you can follow one or both.

What to expect
on the evening
The sessions run as a workshop rather than a demonstration. Everyone works at the table, and everyone finishes something.
Two hours from 17:00
Each workshop begins at 17:00 and runs for roughly two hours, until 19:00.
Five or six people
A small group means table space, materials to hand and individual guidance.
No experience needed
Every session is built for beginners. Bring curiosity, nothing else required.
Tea is served
Tea throughout the session — the making goes better with something warm.
Bring a garment in September
Only the first session asks you to bring something: the textile item you want to print.
Payment at the office
Fees are settled at the MKD office, Rimska cesta 2b.

Before you book
Do I need any previous experience?
None. Every workshop is built for beginners, and the techniques are chosen so that a first attempt still produces something you will want to keep. The aim is to learn something new and enjoy the making.
Do I need to bring anything?
Only in September, when you bring the textile item you want to print — a T-shirt, sweatshirt, shirt, trousers or anything else you would like to personalise. For every other session, all materials are provided.
When and where do the workshops take place?
On the fourth Monday of each month, from 17:00 to 19:00, at Rimska cesta 2b, 1000 Ljubljana. The planned dates are 28 September, 26 October and 23 November 2026. The December workshop is a special Christmas and New Year edition and its date may differ; it will be announced in advance.
How much does it cost?
€7 per person per workshop, or €25 for a package of four. Payments are issued at the MKD office.
How many people take part?
Around five to six. Craft work needs table space and a hand nearby when you are learning, so the group stays small.
Can I attend both the Ebru and the Handicrafts workshops?
Yes. Ebru runs on the second Monday of the month and Creative Handicrafts on the fourth, so the two never clash. Many participants follow both.

The Creative Handicrafts workshops are run in cooperation with ŽKD Anatolija. Their members bring the craft knowledge behind each session — the carved blocks and printing techniques, the beadwork and decorative assembly, and the motifs these objects have carried for generations.
The same partnership runs our monthly Ebru workshops and brings hands-on craft to public events across Slovenia.
