Commemorating the International day of persons with disabilities with Zavod brez ovir
On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, observed on 3 December, our Intercultural Dialogue Association, in cooperation with Zavod Brez Ovir, announces a special event dedicated to raising awareness, promoting inclusion, and fostering intercultural connections.
Zavod Brez ovir, a leading organization in the field of personal assistance and accessibility adaptation of facilities in Slovenia, will, together with the MKD Association, organize a special event on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities with the aim of promoting understanding and inclusion of persons with special needs. The event will take place on Monday, 1 December 2025, from 5.30 PM to t6.45 PM at the premises of the Intercultural Dialogue Association, Rimska cesta 2B in Ljubljana.
A special emphasis will be placed on the inclusion of immigrants and representatives of migrant organizations, who often encounter issues of social inclusion and access to support services in their work. The event represents an important opportunity to strengthen connections between local communities, immigrants, and disability organizations. By encouraging dialogue, knowledge exchange, and cooperation, we aim to contribute to a more inclusive, tolerant, and solidarity-based society.
As part of the programme, Zavod Brez Ovir will present its work, showcasing its mission, key areas of activity, and the many initiatives they carry out in the fields of accessibility, inclusion, and support services.
The programme will be further enriched by the presence of a personal assistant, who will share their practical experience. Their testimony will offer participants a more authentic insight into the work of personal assistants, the responsibilities they carry, and the importance of a human approach, empathy, and reliability in everyday relationships between the user and the assistant. This will be a valuable opportunity for anyone considering entering the field of personal assistance or wishing to gain a better understanding of how the support system for persons with disabilities functions in Slovenia.
After the presentation, a relaxed social gathering will follow, accompanied by refreshments prepared by the volunteers of the Intercultural Dialogue Association.
