Conversation club: Time for a break!

On Thursday, June 26th, we gathered with the participants of the conversation club for the last time before the summer break. Thus, we successfully concluded the first season of the club, where foreign speakers of Slovene practiced speaking and expanded their vocabulary.

High participation of regular attendees indicates that the club is an excellent opportunity for practicing conversation in the Slovenian language. We started meeting twice a week at the end of January. On Tuesdays, we dedicated the time to a smaller group of beginners, while towards the end of the season, the intermediate group of advanced learners had an average attendance of 8-10 people.

Participants who were active members of the group come from the following countries: England, Bosnia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Norway, Palestine, Russia, Serbia, Sudan, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Venezuela, and the USA.

For the conclusion of the season, MKD Association prepared a catering with sweet and savory snacks and refreshing drinks. Of course, Turkish tea was mandatory, as always. It paired perfectly with the buttery biscuits that the club’s mentor baked and brought for the special occasion.

During Thursday’s meeting, we discussed plans and wishes for the summer vacation. The mentor prepared questions on the selected topic, which the participants proposed a week earlier. We drew individual questions from a box and answered them, and of course, a lively debate also ensued.

As the summer temperatures are already quite high, it was unfortunately very hot for us. Therefore, the summer break came at just the right time! The MKD Association is therefore announcing a new season of the conversation club, which will start in September. Those who would like to join us, please follow our website and social media channels.
