International Day of Democracy

September 15 is the day we celebrate the International Day of Democracy.

Democracy is not just a system of elections and institutions. It is a space where every voice must have the right to be heard – even those voices that society too often ignores.

Intercultural dialogue creates space for understanding and cooperation between communities with different experiences and perspectives. It is especially important where different identities – linguistic, religious, ethnic, or social – meet.

Non-governmental organizations play a key role in this. Through initiatives, campaigns, and petitions, we often push the boundaries of what is possible and draw attention to systemic exclusion. We are proud that our initiatives spark movements toward change in favor of those who are otherwise on the margins of political interest – refugees, minorities, and young people without a voice in the system.

Democracy does not exist by itself. We build it every day – through questions, actions, and solidarity.

MKD Association observes important international days by posting about them and organizing events on assigned topics. To read more about other international days follow THIS LINK.
