Radio host Furkan with his guests Maria and Sandra

Last month, we took a different approach by featuring special guests from Treviso, Italy, instead of migrants living in Slovenia. Our guests were volunteers from the organization “Ritmi e Danze dal Mondo,” which has been working for 30 years on themes of interculturality, human rights, and migration. They also organize the famous Giavera Festival, held every summer near Treviso.

Throughout the year, this dedicated group of volunteers travels to various European cities and beyond to learn about and connect with organizations that work with migrants and contribute to the local community. As part of their journey, 25 active volunteers spent three days in Ljubljana to meet with Slovenian migrant organizations and learn more about their work.

On the show, we were joined by:

  • Sandra Fregonese: A communication professional from Treviso who actively volunteers with the organization.
  • Maria Gatto: A migration specialist working for a social cooperative in Treviso and a dedicated volunteer for the festival.

Together, we discussed their 30 years of intercultural work, the impact of the Giavera Festival, and the importance of working with migrants. We also heard about their experiences in Slovenia and their perspectives on migration issues.
