Episode 39 of Enolončnica at Radio Študent 89.3MHz.
We hosted Moustafa Elsayed, a special guest from Egypt.
Moustafa is an Egyptian architect and he is living in Ljubljana with his family.
He was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt. His career had taken him to various countries before he eventually moved to Slovenia.
After completing his Master’s degree in architecture in Germany in 2019, Moustafa received a job offer from Slovenia. At first, he didn’t even know where Slovenia was — he thought it might be a district in Germany! Later, he discovered that it is often called the garden of Europe and he was happy that his path led him here.
Although our guest had not studied in Slovenia, he had received scholarship in Computer Science from an online university in the USA and successfully completed his studies. At the time of our conversation, he had been working as a Technologist Architect at KobiLabs, where he combined his architecture background with strong programming skills to develop innovative software solutions for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.
His career in architecture had also allowed him to live in multiple countries. Before coming to Slovenia, he had worked in Dubai, spent one and a half years in Oman, lived for a year in Germany, and then arrived to Slovenia, where he had been enjoying a new chapter in his life.
Since moving to Slovenia, Moustafa has discovered many new sports, such as skiing, ice skating, sledding, and cycling. However, his biggest passion had been cycling and hiking in Slovenia’s breathtaking forests.
During the episode, we had a great conversation with Moustafa about his experiences in Slovenia, what it had been like to live in different cultures, and his career journey. We also listened to two songs from his personal playlist, which added a unique touch to the show.
