During this holy month Ramadan, we aimed to have more dialogue with people who are interested in intercultural dialogue.
In our public iftar with our project partners Slovenska Filantropija and Radio Študent our volunteers of Društvo Medkulturni dialog presented the concept of iftar – what does it mean, when does it take place, typical foods, etc.
Iftar means dinner, but not just any dinner – it’s a special gathering after fasting throughout the day. Who doesn’t agree the best way to meet new people and hear their stories is while sharing tasty food?
There were participants from 6 different countries and variety of Turkish food and dessert in the tables. We had a presentation of our association Društvo Medkulturni Dialog, Ramadan, Iftar and the meaning of fasting in the beginning of the programme. Then we also introduced our project “Migrants Giving Voice to Migrant” and our international radio show “Enolončnica”.
It was our first active cooperation with RŠ and Filantropija. We really appreciate their collaboration and hope to keep up the good work together in the future…Big thanks to our volunteers who presented Turkish cuisine perfectly and thanks to RŠ and Filantropija.
